Timeless Tuesday #263 ~ A Touch of Gold

Hi there everybody… Katie here and do I have a challenge for you!  Some of you may know I have quite a fondness for my gold leafing pen so I thought it might be fun to see what all of you would create if you were to incorporated gold into your card or project!

FTTC263 GoldThat’s it…just use gold somewhere on your project…it could be a pretty vintage button, gold leafing, gold paper…. whatever you choose, just use GOLD!

So, for my card this week I just had to use the beautiful Tulips for Friends set.  I guess it is wishing on my part that I will actually see some of these soon! :)  I stamped my image using Memento’s Tuxedo Black ink on to Flourishes Classic White card stock and then colored it in with Copics.  Then, I simply added several layers of die cut card stock and designer paper using Spellbinders Classic Squares and a Marianne Designs die set. I gold leafed two of the layers and sanded the edges to allow a little more white to peek through.

Red and White Tulips-1-blog watermarkI was going to add a sentiment to it, but then decided at the last minute to leave it plain so I could use it for whatever occasion I needed a card.  I did also sponge a little white craft ink around the edges to distress it a bit and that is it…no embellishments what so ever…well, except for the gold leafing!  :)

Red and White Tulips-close up-blog watermarkSo that is all for my card today.  I hope you are inspired to get to work on your own “touch of gold” creation but before you get started, please take a look at what my amazingly talented teammates have made for your inspiration!  While you are there, please leave them a little blog love too!  :)

Timeless Tuesday #262 ~ It’s a Wash!

Happy Tuesday Flourishes friends!

Welcome back to another Timeless Tuesday Challenge. Deborah here and I hope you all are having a good start to the week, and perhaps some warmer weather after these last few storms! My kids had the entire week off last week due to the ice/snow that rolled in through here in TN, with no sun until the end of the week to help melt most of it away.  The county was certainly trying to kill me slowly having some cabin fevered children running around! :)

I have a fun challenge this week that will incorporate something I think everyone has!  Washi Tape!  Washi Tape is a lot of fun to use and has many uses for it.  It’s inexpensive and you can tear it, emboss it, write on it, tape up a present, seal an envelope, the list goes on!

For my card, I kept it fun and simple.  I needed a 40th card for a friend turning 40 and fabulous, so I wanted the focus to be on the numbers.  The base card and black panel were made using Flourishes classic cardstock in white and black.  The numbers were stamped with black Memento ink and colored in with Copics.  I fussy cut them out to be popped over a black cardstock circle.  I made the tag with some scrap Flourishes Kraft cardstock and added an eyelet and some ribbon to the top after I cut the corners.  I then used the washi tape to help adhere the tag to the main panel of the card.  The circle and numbers were then also popped up over the tag with the “th” stamped and cut out.  The sentiments were stamped directly onto the main panel and finished with some self adhesive rhinestones.

Timeless Tuesday #261 – MASKuerade!

Howdy fellow stamp lovers!!! It’s time for another fun and fabulous challenge for Timeless Tuesday Wednesday! LOL!!!

Welcome to another fabulous Timeless Tuesday Challenge here at Flourishes!  I’m Ally and I’m your hostess this week.

This week I am challenging you to…

FTTC261 MASKuerade

Now you can take this as a LITERALmask” image or you can take it as “masking - a technique where you place something over your image or cardstock so you don’t apply ink to it“.  You may use a mask in helping you create a fun landscape, a cloudy sky or creating a multiple imaged area where your stamps overlap one another.  It’s your choice on how you interpret the word “mask” in this case… just have FUN with it!

So today, I thought I’d keep my card super simple and let the stamps speak for themselves!FTTC261 Mask Tulips A Cope

For my card example today, I thought I’d stick to the masking technique so I took some Classic Ivory Cardstock and the beautiful tulip image from the “Thank You” stamp set and masked off a line of tulips on my card.  I then coloured my tulips with Copic Markers.

Here’s a close of my blooms…FTTC261 CU1 A CopeSo grab some stamps and let’s see you MASKuerade this week!  Can’t wait to see what you create using my challenge this week!

Timeless Tuesday #260 ~ < = >!

Howdy fellow stamp lovers!!!  It’s time for another fun and fabulous challenge for Timeless Tuesday!

Cheryl here! I’m your hostess for this week’s Timeless Tuesday Challenge, and I wanted to give everyone a super easy challenge to work with…

FTTC260 Less equals moreSo, here it is…< = >! Or, in non-math terms, Less = More! What does that mean, you ask? Well, simply create a card with a stamped image, but NO coloring! It doesn’t have to be a CAS card, but if you really want to embrace the < = > theory, go for it!

For my project, I decided to make a boxed set of cards using some of my favorite Flourishes floral images. And, nothing shows off an image like white on kraft!

I used Flourishes Classic Kraft cardstock, stamped the images with white pigment ink, then heat embossed large floral images from the Gerber Daisy, Sweet Peas, and Picking Wildflowers stamp sets. In the lower right corner, I stamped sentiments with Versamark ink, then heat embossed them in blue, pink, and yellow embossing powders. The sentiments came from the Sweet Peas, Picking Wildflowers and Butterflies & Blossoms stamp sets. After cutting the upper right corner at an angle, I sponged Walnut Stain Distress Ink over the sentiments, up the right side of the card, and in the upper left corner.

On the inside, I used coordinating, but smaller, floral images, stamped in Versamark ink, but I didn’t emboss them. The Picking Wildflowers set doesn’t have a smaller image, but the Garden Picks set has a wildflower image that worked great with it.

To finish off my set, I made a box using my envelope punch board. Jennifer McGuire has a great tutorial on how to do this. Before assembling it, I heat embossed the Sweet Pea image on the flap and on the back side. Then, tied it up with a polka dot ribbon. Less=More=Easy Peasy! And, I like that equation!

How about you? Come play along!
