Meet the Design Team

julieJULIE KOERBER, Design Team Coordinator
If all I ever needed to know, I learned in kindergarten, I guess I should never quit coloring! I’m a gal who finds a kind of inner peace when she’s allowed to play with markers or paints to let her creativity flow. I’ve been stamping since 2000 and really, by accident. After a step aerobics class one Saturday, my sister-in-law forced me to go with her to one of those at-home stamping parties. It’s funny because – she left me there! Since then, I have gone on to be a card maker that’s been published in a handful of national card making magazines. Needless to say, I now consider inky fingers an accessory! In 2008, I was honored to be asked to serve on Flourishes Design Team. It’s an even greater honor to be the Design Team Coordinator and chat with some of the world’s best card makers each and every week. I am constantly inspired by the creativity here! I hail from South Central Montana where the deer and the antelope play. I’m proud to be called “wife” by my hubby, Ken, and “mom” by my two kiddos, Ellie and Cal. When I’m not getting crafty in my “mom cave,” I’m the editor of a regional women’s magazine called Yellowstone Valley Woman.

BARBARA ANDERS
I live in South Central Virginia, right on the North Carolina line, in Martinsville (think NASCAR) with my husband and best friend, John, and our nine (yes, 9) rescue cats. I’m a registered nurse, currently working as a nurse manager for a home health agency, but I’m hoping to retire at the end of this year. I’ve always been a crafter–I can’t remember not either doing some sort of needlework or craft, even as a child, and was inspired by both of my parents to be creative with my hands. I also love to garden and that’s why I need to retire–I don’t have enough time now to do all the “fun” things I want to do.

I got into stamping in a round-about way. I started a small scrapbook about five years ago for an annual event we hosted and never expected to go much further with it. But while looking online for inspiration for layouts, I ran across blogs with cards and other paper crafts. I’d never done that and it looked like fun so I bought some stamps and supplies at a craft store and made some simple cards. Then I found a Stampin’ Up demonstrator who taught me a lot and the rest, as they say, is history–I was totally hooked. I found Splitcoast Stampers and studied all the galleries, learning from every card I saw and never looked back.

I’ve been a huge fan of Flourishes stamps from the beginning of my stamping “career”. I am so excited to be sharing my work with you and I’m so honored to be a part of this incredibly talented Flourishes Design Team –it’s literally a dream come true!

Cindy LawrenceCINDY LAWRENCE
I live in beautiful Southern New Hampshire with my husband, Jim, and children Nick (12) & Abbi (9). We are also blessed with two grown sons, Ben & Steve. I began stamping in 1997, and the rest, as they say, is history. I have served on the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen Design Team, as well as several other design teams, and most recently won the Stampin’ Up Artisan Award. From the moment I laid eyes on my very first Flourishes stamp, I fell completely and totally head-over-heals in love with the gorgeous, detailed images! To this day I still hear them calling to me from my studio… “Cindy… color me…”. How can I resist?!

Christine OkkenCHRISTINE OKKEN
Hello Flourishes Friends! Creativity is one of my little pieces of joy. For me there’s just nothing like the process of inking a stamp, giving it life through coloring, and adding pattern and paper together to create something special. I’ve loved art since I was a child and love it even more now that I can use stamping as a medium. I discovered stamping about 9 years ago and have had some wonderful creative pit-stops along the way including some time on the Dirty Dozen Design Team at splitcoaststampers.com and happily with Flourishes since the winter of 2008/09. I’m blessed to be married 15 years now. My husband is wonderfully supportive of my paper and ink passion, and of me. He’s a really good man.  We have three great kids, a daughter – about to be a teenager and loves music and the arts, a son who’s 10 and is following in his Dad’s steps as a budding athlete, and another son who is 6 who loves to talk, invent and build. They add a lot of spice and love to our family. My husband and I work together with teenagers and college students as Student Ministries Pastors at our church.  This calling gives a great deal of meaning to our working life.

I have been stamping for 10 years now, and yes I was “one of those people” who said stamping was “not for me”. Well look at me now! The start of my addiction came when I was invited to a SU party and said I would just buy one thing to be polite. I had every intention of not buying another thing. One thing led to another and well, you know the rest. I have a designated room in the house for my hobby. My wonderful husband and father-in-law even made me a desk, bookcase, and shelves all designed around using and storing my stamps.  In effort to perfect my craft, I continue to learn new techniques every turn. My stamping style is very clean and crisp keeping to a minimalist form, and not overdoing it with embellishments and additional items. I truly enjoy making gift sets with any new stamp set that I get my hands on.  Stamping is fun and relaxing for me and never feels like work or a chore that must be completed. I am very blessed to be on the Flourishes Senior Design team and I pinch myself all the time!

Dawn BurnworthDAWN BURNWORTH
Hello everyone! I’m Dawn Burnworth and I am so excited to be on this amazing design team. I have admired the work and creativity here at Flourishes.

I have always been a crafty girl… I grew up in northern Illinois in a large family.  I started out sewing one summer with my aunt. She was such a huge influence in my life. I got so homesick and she was trying to keep my mind busy. I still find that when I am really stressed that a crafty type project eases my mind. She planted a seed in me that has been an important part of who I am.

I have a wonderfully supportive husband that puts up with my crafty “needs” and 5 great kids. I started stamping about 5 years ago.  I remember uploading my first card to a challenge and how nervous I was. I have learned so much from all of the amazing talent out there.

I look forward to creating with the rest of the team and I am so happy to be stamping with Flourishes terrific stamps and thank you for this opportunity.

I am a native Long Islander (New York) and along with my husband raising our two crazy boys, a sweet kitty, and a rambunctious puppy! I am a passionate photographer and nature enthusiast. My family and I love to hike and explore. I have always loved all kinds of arts and crafts and have been stamping seriously about 6 years. I absolutely love to color! Copic markers being my most used medium these days, but not neglecting my colored pencils or watercolors!

It’s been an incredible experience to find blogging and be able to share my work with others and to be able to experience the wonderful art, knowledge, and friendship that I have gained over the years. It’s an endless supply of inspiration and joy!

TAMMY HERSHBERGER
I am a native of the Buckeye State, and live in the “don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it!” village of Marshallville, Ohio.  I got my start in stamping way back in 2001 and have been obsessed with it ever since!  In 2007 I was presented with the very unique opportunity to take over as the manager of a small stamping store which was like a dream come true…. although some might say it’s like putting the fox in charge of the hen house!  I have had the past and present honor of doing design work for many different stamp companies, as well as being a member of the Dirty Dozen design team at Splitcoaststampers.  I’ve always enjoyed crafts and sewing (thanks to my Mom!) but stamping is the only thing that has stuck with me for so long and I love that it’s my hobby AND my job! I have met so many wonderful people through stamping, both online and in person and am incredibly fortunate to call so many of you my friends! There’s no better online community in the world!

My wonderful husband Bill and I were married in 1990 and are the parents of two beautiful daughters… Kaylie and Kelsey.  My husband works as a cabinet maker, and our daughters keep us busy with their school and sporting events.  I am so blessed by their support of my stamping!  Our home is rounded out with Dexter, Tigger, Mabel and Nibbles (the dog, cat, guinea pig and rabbit… as well as the occasional bat that gets into the house somehow, earning me the nickname Bat Girl in several online forums!)

I’m highly honored to be a part of the team here at Flourishes and hope that you’ll always find my designs beautiful and inspiring!
