From the Desk of Jan Marie

Hello Flourishes Friends.

Today I want to share with you the card I created using the sets,  Mother’s Words of Wisdom,  Bontanical Book Plate Vol 1,  and Magnolias as well as the new  Classic Bookplate Template  and the 1,2,3 Create kit that are part of the March Release for Flourishes.

My first card was made using Mother’s Words of Wisdom.  Mother’s Words of Wisdom takes some of the best quotes from Mother Theresa and brings them to life. All five sentiments in the set were designed to fit perfectly in this gorgeous frame of peonies. Set measures 4″ by 6″. Click HERE to see!  I used the papers and other elements from the 1,2,3 Create Kit, Pretty In Pink.  It was a joy to work with.

I colored the images with a soon to be released Flourishes Copic Collection Candy.  This new collection has four wonderful pink alcohol markers that you will want in your collection.  With our 1,2,3, Create Kits, you have three essential elements in one kit — paper, ribbon, and embellishments all color coordinated to make card making easy!  Click  HERE to see this gorgeous collection!

My second card was made using the Violas from Botanical Bookplates Vol. 1.  These beautiful Violas and Snowdrops are from Marcella Hawley’s newest set for Flourishes . It features 2 focal images plus 2 smaller bookplate versions that are perfect for tags, or adornments. Click HEREto see!  For my card I used a newly released Spellbinder die,  Antique Frame and Accents  cut out of lavender metallic cardstock from my stash.  I had a great time using little white roses from Color Me Crazy (Prima) and  Mini Hyacinth Daisies with Leaves .  This is  a “out of my normal box” move for me, but these are darling.  I made a bow using my Becca Peg Bow Maker and Satin cotton lavender ribbon.  The colors tie together wonderfully.  I also added a Petal Pins – BEADS.  I colored the viola with another soon to be released  Flourishes Copic Collection New Violets.

To sweeten the release Flourishes had custom Tailor-made Dies  manufactured by Spellbinders Paper Arts that coordinate with Flourishes’ stamped images. Classic Bookplate Template Die is a perfect match for our new set Bookplate Botanical Vol. 1, creating a beautiful cut and embossed shape every time! Click HERE to see for yourself!

For my last card  a southern  favorit,e Magnolias.  Lush and sweeping flowers so sweet you can almost smell their pure fragrance. This 4″ by 6″ set features a beautiful focal image, a corner floral piece and a border of leaves, allowing you to stamp and create accents in a whole host of ways. Click HERE to see this set in its full glory!

For my card I used a soft sky cardstock, Spellbinder new die Floral Ovals. I used a set of Marthat Stewart corner punch and punch I purchased at Michael’s.   I have to admit that using the Martha Stewart Corner punch and straight punch  proved to be labor intensive,  and not at all user friendly.   I think I may have to drop Martha a note and ask her to check out this problem.  I do like the finished product dispite some flaws.  I used Copic in very soft ranges to color this set.

I hope you have enjoyed this round-up of our release.  Remember the New Release bundle is specially priced and that offer ends on Friday March 23rd.

  1. Awesome, drop dead gorgeous cards Jan. there are videos on You tube to see how to use her punches and remember you have to use the measurements shown on her papers inserted with the punch, then they are very easy to use. I love your cards and can’t wait to get my new stamps!!!

Oh. My. Word! These are such gorgeous, gorgeous cards!! I am so inspired!
I do know what you mean by Martha’s punches. I have a few of hers and I’m not loving them as much as everyone else seem to.
I have to have those Bead Pins! I have always loved Becca’s pins, so when I read that you have some in your shop, I added it to my Basket/Cart immediately, along with Becca’s Peg Bow Maker. I have such a huge Flourishes Cart/Basket purchase going on right now, but it’s worth every penny :)
I love, love your products, Jan Marie. Thank you so much for offering us beautiful products with quality and great service ;)

I adore magnolias Jan Marie and I love this stamp. It will be on my next order. Magnificent magnolia trees grow here and to watch those buds unfurl is totally amazing.

I’ve run into some problems using that very same MS punch. In fact I’ve wasted more paper trying to get a nice even edge. And I followed the instructions exactly as written, besides other punches I’ve used seem to work as they are meant to. Perhaps a flaw in the product????

  4. Diane H says:

Beautiful~beautiful cards…..loving the colors, all the embellishments…so pretty….and they all look gorgeous to me… fun to see, as I pretty much missed the latest release as we were gone, and the weather has been in the 80′s the last 7 days…in Michigan…wow…so nice to see all these pretty Spring colors!!!

  5. Greta H says:

Your cards are just breathtaking! I’m so looking forward to using the new release I was lucky enough to win.

  6. Lynne Ingram says:

Your cards are beautiful. I live in Magnolia, DE so this is right up my alley. I agree that the MS around the page punches are labor intensive read difficult but the SU ones are no better. The end result is fab if one has the patience to do it several times to get it right.
