Introducing a new Flourishes Feature!

Happy Monday everyone! Today is a special day! We’re going to start a new feature for Flourishes this month all about stamping and scrapbooking…

Welcome to…

Every third Monday each month I am going to challenge you to break out those stamps and incorporate them into a layout.

This month’s challenge is to create a layout around a September theme that is important to you! Maybe your youngest child had his first day of school. Maybe your oldest grandchild is off to college for the first time. Maybe you have a special birthday to celebrate.

For me, one of the most signification things that happened this month was my 6 year old son starting Grade 1. It’s not too much of a transition as far as the length of time at school but more of getting used to a new environment and a new teacher.

First Day
by Allison Cope

The first step in designing my layout was finding some amazing stamps that would incorporate my theme of “school” and Flourishes has a wonderful selection to choose from!

So I grabbed the apples from the Apple of my Eye set. I stamped the large, prominent apple from the large image on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock, coloured it with Copic markers and fussy cut it out.

Next I grabbed the image of the pens, pencils, scissors and marker from the Mix n’ Mugs set. Once again I stamped on cardstock and coloured in the image using Copic markers. I then created a fun layered pop up circle for the supplies to take center stage on.

I also wanted to add a few autumn touches seeing as the leaves in the valley have just begun to change colour. I grabbed the beautiful retired Autumn Flourishes stamp set. I used it to add the beautiful flourishes and the “Autumn” word along the bottom of my layout.

A few more Autumn themed touches…

And for one finally subtle touch, I added a few subtly stamped trees from the Forest of Trees stamp set. I used two subtle green Memento inks to achieve this soft layout detail.

If you look closely at the September calendar, I also stamped a clock image right over top of the calendar. I used the large clock image from the Moments in Time stamp set.

So come and join along with me this month and create a layout using stamps all about an important event for September. If you’d like to showcase some of the layouts you’ve created this month using Flourishes stamps, simply leave a comment here on this post so that we can come by and check them out!

Happy stamping and scrappin’!

I love how you have used paper and embellished it with stamps. It gives you lots to look at but is still very clean. Makes me take another look at my stamps to use on pages!
