Hello and welcome to my second Limelight post! I hope you enjoyed my first entry
This week I’d like to revisit one of my favourite techniques, that I call “out of the box”, which involves having parts of an image sticking out of a die-cut frame. It’s a popular thing among paper crafters, but not everyone knows how to do it.
Firstly, stamp your image (I used the lily flower from the Lily Of Hope set), and choose the Nestabilities die that you would like to go with it.

Mark the parts of the flower that stick out of the frame, with a pencil (I added the red dots digitally for a better view), and remove the die.

Take a pair of sharp scissors, and cut around the excessive bits, watching not to cut out any paper that goes inside the circle. We don’t want unwanted gaps in it
Make a cut a little deeper into the circle, wherever your dots are – remember that the die is broader than the actual cutting blade, to allow for embossing.
Take your Nestie and fit back over the image, watching that all the parts that you don’t want to be cut, are flipped over the die.

Secure the Nestie on the paper, run through your die-cutting machine, and voila! You should get something like this:

Here’s what I designed with my “out of the box” Lily. I added the sentiment from Tag Lines, and coloured the flower with Copics.

Thank you for joining me today, and I hope you’ll stop by again next week!
