Welcome to another Sunday in the Limelight with me, Kim Teasdale. I don’t know about all of you but I know that I’m very much looking forward to Spring and all of the wonderful new growth that comes with it. I always get a little thrill when I see bulbs starting to poke up through the ground because I know that when it happens, it’s only a few more weeks until I get to see the vibrant colours that come with them
For my card today I thought that I would give you a little taste of Spring and used the daffodils from the Year in Flowers 1 Stamp Set, although it was very hard to choose just one of the floral images to use! I started by stamping and embossing my daffodils and then water coloured the blue background with baja breeze and sage shadow re-inkers and a water brush. I then water coloured the flowers using my tombow markers and my water brush again for blending the inks. As a final step to the image and the one that adds the most definition the the flowers, I added some shadows with a black chalk pencil and smudged it to blur the lines with a Q-Tip.
I then set out about picking some papers from vintage looking papers in my stash. I wanted to add some elegance to the card and kept it old fashioned by distressing all of the papers with caramel and vintage photo inks. The frame around the daffodils is actually popped up with dimensionals and was created by using a couple of different dies by Spellbinders.
To make the border on the bottom of the card I punched the paper with one of my paper punches. I then took some of the punched border and cut off bits to make the corner adornments. I added pearls to the border and the corners and then some beautiful organza ribbon and pearl brad to finish off the card.
Thank you for joining me today and I hope to see you back next wee for my last post in the Limelight
