Spring Bouquet for Grandma

Hi there! Laurie Schmidlin here, and I have the incredible honor of continuing the month long Stamper’s Dream Limelight Designer Series! I have long been a fan of Flourishes elegant and timeless stamps, and I was beyond excited when Michelle (owner of Stamper’s Dream Store) starting carrying them!

I’m also excited to be sharing a project that I made using the newly released Spring Bouquet set! Wow! Talk about amazing artistry!! No one does elegant flowers like Flourishes!

I started by stamping the bouquet image onto Prism Ivory Simply Smooth cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, and then coloring in the image with Copic markers. To create the circle, I used my largest Circle Nestability die to trace and then cut around, except for the overlapping images which I carefully cut out. While the Nestability die was still in place, I used a small stylus to trace around the inside of the die…creating an embossed line. Using a Versamagic Dew Drop, I inked up just the word “Grandma” (from one of the sentiments included in the Spring Bouquet set) and stamped it along the edge of the cut out circle.
The background is a combination of patterned paper (from My Mind’s Eye), embossed vellum, and some muslin fabric.
For the finishing touches, I added some Stickles to parts of the flowers, some rhinestones, ribbon and lace trim, and a heart charm.
Well, that’s all from me! Thank you so much for visiting and be sure to check back in next week to see what Tosha Leyendekker has in store for you!

What a stunning beauty of a card. I love the soft feel the muslin adds, along with the embossed vellum. And the image panel – wow! I like the idea of using a stylus to create a deeper embossed border, too. Thanks for sharing that.

Laurie, yours is one of the most beautiful cards I’ve ever seen! Being fairly new at this, stamping and card making, I am wondering if you could let me know a little more about the embossed vellum and the background paper. I have never embossed vellum — are there any tips you can provide? And how do you attach the vellum to the background? I just love your card and hope to be able to make something close to your creation. Thanks for sharing!
